Climbing the mountain for a day, coming here for dinner to have a curry, is a great choice! Recommended chicken madras, not very spicy, but with a strong tomato flavor

We went to The Balti for a friend&#39;s birthday celebration. None of us had been here before, but had been recommended. We certainly were not disappointed. The food was served quickly and it was all extremely tasty. Well done to all the staff and thank you for an enjoyable meal. We will certainly come again and recommend you to our friends.

We called at Matlock Bath on a trip into the Peak District and having read very positive reviews of The Balti and having been 10 years before we decided to call and try it for ourselves. As we approached the restaurant entrance we noticed an A board outside which said that Monday night was Banquet night and was all you can eat, not being great fans of this type of dining we headed inside and asked if it would just be possible to pick meals from the standard menu. The Restaurant owner (we assume), came over and explained that the food was all cooked freshly and explained the types of dishes (that as a couple of vegetarians) we could expect - this was done with absolutely no pressure at all and we were left to peruse the menu and make our decision. We decided to go with the banquet and really could not have been more impressed, the starters were delicious, with crispy batter and pastry surrounding fresh well seasoned ingredients. When the mains were brought out we were blown away, 6 separate dishes of the most flavoursome food we&#39;ve had in a very long time, we asked for half and half medium and hot, the dishes were all fresh, tasty and unique, a superb combination of falours all complimenting each other, served with rice and a naan bread. We could so easily have passed by what was undoubtedly one of the best meals of 2016, we will certainly be back soon - it won&#39;t be 10 years this time!

So seven of us turned up without booking on a Friday night and they were brilliant. Couldn&#39;t do enough to make us welcome. Service was attentive and good spirited and the food was excellent. Given nearly everywhere else was shut so this was Hobson&#39;s choice we fell on out feet. Great fun

Not bad. My husbands madras was very good and portion size good but my biryani was really not the best. It was only warm and the chicken was quite obviously re-used meat from the day before so was very dry. I have never experienced anywhere before them not using fresh chicken. Also, quite expensive for the quality at &pound;52.00 without starters and two drinks each.
